Interested in Coaching?

Each Zia Youth Soccer League team is led by a volunteer Head Coach, who works with and is supported by a volunteer Assistant Coach.  No experience is required to volunteer as a coach, as full training and ongoing support are provided.  All that is needed is the true desire to help kids learn the game of soccer, build confidence and sportsmanship, and have a fun and exciting time doing so!

Head coaches are generally able to choose their team's practice location and schedule (weekday afternoon(s) or evening(s) only, no weekend practices are allowed).  Coaches must be available for a single game each Saturday from September 7th through October 26th, which will take place at either Altura Park or Prado del Sol Park between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  An exact fall game schedule will be provided to all registered players in mid- to late-August.

Head Coaches receive the benefit of one registration discount/rebate per team he or she coaches.  This essentially provides our head coaches with one or more FREE registrations, as a 50% discount is applied at the time of registration (certain restrictions apply*), with the remaining 50% provided in the form of a rebate check after participating in the seasonal coach training.  Head coaches also receive a FREE coach jersey to match their players!  All of this is of course in addition to the highly rewarding experience itself, knowing that you made a difference in the lives of the young players on your team!

For more information on volunteering as a head or assistant coach, and to receive your head coach discount code to apply at registration, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected]

*For the protection of both our players and coaches, all volunteer coaches must submit to a basic background check.  All coaches are subject to approval and coaching positions are subject to availability.  Coaches must receive full administrative approval prior to issuance of the discount code, which will be provided upon the coach's e-mailed acceptance of the offered position.  Returning coaches must be in good standing with the league in accordance with the Coach's Code of Conduct in order to maintain seasonal approval.
